Announcement: Accreditation Commission for Health Care (ACHC) and Healthcare Facilities Accreditation Program (HFAP) Merge!

We are thrilled to share with you that Accreditation Commission for Health Care (ACHC) and Healthcare Facilities Accreditation Program (HFAP) are joining under the ACHC brand to deliver even more accreditation and certification offerings to healthcare providers worldwide.

The merger, effective October 19, 2020, unites two established stewards of quality care and patient safety and gives organizations another comprehensive source for accreditation needs in the marketplace.

This also is a historic occasion, as it is the first time that two accreditation organizations – ACHC and Accreditation Association for Hospitals and Health Systems (AAHHS), HFAP’s parent company – with deeming authority from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) have merged. HFAP will operate as a brand within ACHC, and collectively the organization is known as ACHC.

Our combined portfolios offer customers and prospects a wide range of accreditation and certification options for hospitals, laboratories, and community-based providers under one company, affording providers a seamless, convenient way to achieve and maintain recognition. More importantly, our expanded resources provide an alternative solution previously not available in the market.

HFAP, based in Chicago, is America’s original healthcare accreditation program. Since its founding in 1945, HFAP has driven advancements in patient safety and quality of care for hospitals, critical access hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, and clinical laboratories. HFAP also offers recognition for office-based surgery, stroke care, laser and lithotripsy services, joint replacement programs, and wound care. To learn more, please visit

This merger does not affect accreditation cycles or other processes. Generally, the customer experience is business as usual, and our clients can continue to enjoy the same high level of personalized service and quality they have trusted for decades.

ACHC appreciates your valuable contributions to the healthcare industry. As always, our representatives are available to answer your questions. To learn more about expanded program offerings, please call us at (855) 937-2242 or email [email protected]
