The Americans with Disabilities Act affects almost every aspect of American Life, transforming how we do business, interact with each other and care for those in need of our services. It has opened up our health care system, moving persons from institutions into community life and increased the need for home and community-based services. Hear from John Wodatch, disability rights attorney and author of the ADA, as he shares how the law has been implemented since its enactment 30 years ago and what changes it promises for the future.

Objectives:

At the conclusion of this webinar, the participant will:

  • Be able to understand the ADA and how it applies to their work (Healthcare worker) or their life (consumer) including the many resulting home and community-based services enhancing choice and quality of life.

Meet the Presenter: John Wodatch

John Wodatch is a disability rights attorney, with over 50 years specializing in the Americans with Disabilities Act and the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.  He served for 42 years in the Federal government, where he authored the government’s comprehensive disability rights regulations and created and led the Department of Justice’s office in charge of enforcing the ADA. 

He is one of the drafters of the Americans with Disabilities Act., serving as a member of the White House negotiating team and as the Department of Justice’s chief technical expert during the writing and passage of the ADA.  He was also part of the U.S. delegation to the United Nations that helped develop the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

Due to the expense of using the telephone/web hook-up, Webinar registrations may not be shared between agencies.  Your registration covers the access of only one log in to the webinar. Handouts and related materials will be sent to you shortly before the program to the email address you provide. No refunds for this webinar. You can replace attendees by November 16, 2020 by emailing [email protected] by 4:30 pm.
