In each culture, death is associated with rituals and customs to help people with the grieving process. Rituals offer people ways to process and express their grief. This training will explore how culture impacts health, wellness, illness, death and how healthcare is received and accepted.

Objectives

  1. Review the role of culture at the end of life

  2. Identify culturally appropriate comfort methods
  3. Discuss ways to build trust and rapport with the patients and families

Ottamissiah (Missy) Moore is Registered Nurse and a resident of Washington D.C. Her wealth of experience and knowledge in nursing spans over 37 years. Missy has extensive experience in Long Term Care Support and services, Hospice and networking. Her plan is to share her nursing experience with health care providers before she retires. She provides consulting services for conference planning and trainings to include leadership, hospice and wound care
